Final Report Agricultural Land Use Monitoring (Pilot study in the Selected Areas in each member country)
This pilot study analyses driving forces of major agricultural land-use changes and its impacts on local people’s livelihoods, and provides key recommendations on basin-wide management and development in agriculture and irrigation sector.
The State of Basin Report (SoBR) is a flagship product and an integral part of the MRC’s strategic planning cycle. Prepared every five years, the report assesses conditions within the basin and the impacts that development and use of the water and related natural resources are having. It is a basis for the Member Countries and other key stakeholders to discuss and determine appropriate actions for ensuring sustainable development of the Mekong basin.
The report elaborates on methods to assess conditions in the Lower Mekong River Basin, tools for forecasting flood and drought, and explains the regional flood and drought situation in the current year by means of one overarching and four country-related sections.
The report provides the consolidated results from the water quality monitoring activities of the Member Countries, focusing on the compliance of water quality data with available water quality guidelines as defined in the MRC Procedures for Water Quality and its technical guidelines.
Enhancement of Basin-Wide Flood Analysis and Additional Simulations under Climate Change for Impact Assessment and MASAP Preparation Final Report
The report provides the basis for damage assessment from flood and quantitative flood risk analysis for the preparation of the Mekong Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan (MASAP).
This report, presented through visuals and stories, depicts the efforts by the MRC over six years to transform dialogue to cooperation at the cross-boundary level. It tells how the Commission has strengthened integrated water resources management in the Lower Mekong River Basin via five different projects.
This assessment covers analysis of the impact of climate change on Hydropower Potential in the Lower Mekong River Basin (LMB). The study provides relevant indicators of change in potential hydropower generation for the LMB.
While dams bring many benefits, this report summarises possible negative impacts of dams on fisheries and approaches to mitigate the impacts.
The report describes five prioritised joint projects identified by the Member Countries. The joint projects involve two or more countries to work together on key basin-wide challenges that one country cannot address alone.
Under the theme of “Emerging technologies to cope with flood”, the report looks ahead at the direction through which flood management could go using new technologies. It discusses what technologies the MRC is using and explores other emerging technologies to cope with floods.
The report discusses lessons learned over the past 10 years. It looks at what happened over those years and draws lessons that the region can learn from the Mekong countries work to cope with flood and drought.
