New MRC-Singapore Partnership Signals Fresh Momentum for Smarter Water Management in the Mekong

In a major step to strengthen regional cooperation on water security, the Mekong River Commission (MRC) and Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration on water resource management, climate resilience, and sustainable development across the Mekong region.

13th Mekong Sister Rivers Partnership Exchange Best Practices of Water and River Management

The Mekong River Commission (MRC) is hosting the 13th Mekong Sister Rivers Partnership Exchange on 8–12 April, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand and Vientiane, Lao PDR. This significant gathering will bring together water resource leaders from the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Pacific Ocean Division (POD) and experts from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, and Viet Nam, to strengthen international cooperation in sustainable water and resource management.

Mekong Day 2026 Highlights Importance of Water Quality

The Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat marked Mekong Day 2026 with a renewed call for regional cooperation to protect water quality in the Mekong River. This year’s celebration brings together Member Countries, Dialogue and Development Partners, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, and youth under the theme “Together, protect water quality for shared prosperity.”
