H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks Chief Executive Officer

H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks was appointed by the 31st MRC Council as the CEO of the MRC Secretariat and officially assumes her position on 17 January 2025. She is the first female CEO and the fourth riparian to hold this position.

Ms. Santipitaks brings a wealth of experience from a distinguished diplomatic career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. Prior to joining the MRC, she served as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Thai Foreign Ministry (2022-2024). Her earlier roles include Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to the Commonwealth of Australia (2020-2022), Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand (2017-2020), and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN in Jakarta (2015-2017).

Starting her career as a foreign service officer in 1986, Ms. Santipitaks has held several significant domestic and international assignments. Her international roles have included postings at the Royal Thai Embassy/Mission of Thailand to the European Union in Brussels and the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York. Domestically, she has made significant contribution to various offices, such as the Department of ASEAN Affairs, the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, the Department of European Affairs, the Department of International Organizations, and the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs.

Ms. Santipitaks is an advocate for multilateralism, firmly believing in the power of regional and international cooperation to address complex global challenges. Her commitment is evident in her active participation, presentation, and discussion in numerous bilateral, regional, and international meetings. Her efforts play a key role in bridging gaps and facilitating collaborative solutions to pressing issues such as sustainable development, climate change, and economic integration. Recognising that effective multilateralism requires the inclusion of all voices, she emphasises the importance of stakeholder engagement and inclusive processes, ensuring that decisions are well-informed and broadly supported.

Ms. Santipitaks holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Delhi, India, obtained in 1985, and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (M.A.L.D.) from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA, completed in 1990. Her academic and professional journey underscores her dedication to fostering international dialogue and cooperation.
