On 30 March 2026, MRCS CEO Busadee Santipitaks received a courtesy visit from Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre).

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their shared commitment under the Memorandum of Intent signed in 2024, and to exchange views on further strengthening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including disaster data exchange, early warning systems, and coordinated emergency response within the Mekong region.

The MRC looks forward to continuing to deepen cooperation, building on existing achievements to further enhance regional resilience and preparedness, and to working closely with the AHA Centre to advance innovative solutions for disaster risk management. 🤝🌏

Why does water quality matter?
Because the Mekong supports drinking water, farming, fisheries, tourism, and daily life for millions of people across the basin.

Today, 20 students from the four Mekong countries explored what affects river water — from urban wastewater and agricultural runoff to plastic waste and riverbank activities. They also learned how water quality is monitored, from field sampling to laboratory testing, and how data is collected, analysed, and used to understand what is happening in the river.

📱 The One Mekong Mobile App Introduction Workshop was held in Dong Thap Province on 26 March 2026, bringing together officials from the Vietnam National Mekong Committee, as well as provincial authorities and line agencies across the Mekong Delta.

The workshop introduced key features of the App, including iReport, a community-based early warning system that enables users to share real-time information on floods, droughts, and livelihood-related incidents, alongside the AI chatbot. Participants also provided valuable feedback to support the further development of the App with more advanced functionalities.

This activity marks an important milestone for communities in the Mekong Delta, enhancing access to the early warning system through the One Mekong App. It also contributes to fostering a stronger culture of climate awareness, proactive risk management, and collective resilience. 🌊
