Today, the Mekong River Commission and the Government of India signed a new partnership MoU to strengthen Mekong-Ganga cooperation and broaden to cover approaches on integrated water resources management.
This MoU focuses on stronger water security, better flood and drought preparedness, climate resilience, clean energy technology, and sustainable river basin management. As climate risks grow, cooperation across regions becomes increasingly essential.
Through this partnership, the MRC and India will work together to share knowledge, strengthen technical capacity, and support practical solutions for a safer, more resilient Mekong future.

On 26 June, the Mekong River Commission Secretariat held a Technical Working Session on the Gender Equity and Vulnerability Action Plan (GEVAP) under the MRC Strategic Plan 2026–2030.
MRC Secretariat staff from across divisions exchanged lessons, reviewed good practices, and identified practical actions to better integrate gender-responsive and vulnerability-informed approaches into the MRC work, from planning, monitoring, and reporting the evidence-based results of gender and social inclusion in the Mekong River Basin at regional, national and community levels.
Through GEVAP, the MRC continues to support a more inclusive, resilient and people-centred Mekong River Basin.
