On 28 October 2026 in Bangkok, Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, CEO of the MRC Secretariat, and Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun, Executive Director of the Mekong Institute, signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen cooperation between the two regional institutions.

The partnership builds on their complementary roles, linking the MRC’s expertise in transboundary water cooperation and basin knowledge with MI’s strengths in research, capacity development and regional engagement across the Greater Mekong Subregion.

Through joint training, knowledge exchange, mutual support for regional forums and the sharing of institutional good practices, MRCS and MI will develop stronger synergies to support their Member Countries. The cooperation also opens opportunities to apply MRC basin-wide strategies and technical guidance through research and capacity development.

Together, the two institutions aim to connect regional knowledge with practical action for water security, climate resilience and shared prosperity. 🌏💧
