Investment Options and Associated Measures to Optimize Fisheries Production Under Changed River Conditions

This report assesses the status and trends in capture fisheries in the Lower Mekong Basin and needs for investment in their sustainability in the face of a changing river environment. It consolidates national reviews from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam into a regional overview highlighting key issues, proposed solutions, and investment needs aligned with existing national and regional fisheries management policies. Three potential small regional projects are identified with the aim to contribute to upcoming projects. These projects focus on improved national assessments of fisheries and incorporation of fisheries information into policy and planning; co-management of fisheries and fish habitats; and integrating the values of fisheries into climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
