Mr Kol Vathana Director
Mr. Kol Vathana served as Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He brings over 30 years of professional experience in transboundary water resources management, environmental governance, hydropower development, climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and regional cooperation.
His extensive career spans multiple senior roles, including Chair of the MRC Joint Committee Working Group on PNPCA for Cambodia, National Coordinator for MRC’s Climate Change Initiative, and Head of the Technical Body for Water Quality.
Throughout his service at CNMC and the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Vathana played a key role in the implementation of the 1995 Mekong Agreement and related MRC Procedures, representing Cambodia in numerous high-level MRC platforms and inter-governmental negotiations. His technical and policy experience, combined with his longstanding involvement in MRC’s governance processes, have provided him with deep insights into the organization’s mandates and collaborative mechanisms.
