Mekong Delta Water Issues (English)

This is the first of a new series of knowledge-based leaflets IWRM BRIEF. It presents a summary of findings from a bilateral study on transboundary water resources management issues in the Mekong Delta by Cambodia and Viet Nam. With simple language, graphics and icons, it gives easy-to-digest information on the six priority issues for bilateral cooperation along the border to manage the resources together, to cope with impacts of climate change, development and urbanisation.

The study identifies six priority issues such as insufficient monitoring and assessment of water flow, lack of flood forecasting and warning mechanisms, and limited mitigation measures to address the impacts of hydro-infrastructural development. Addressing these challenges require closer bilateral cooperation.

Transboundary Dialogue Mekong Integrated Water Resources Management Project (Khmer)
This brochure describes an overview of the five bilateral projects of the four Mekong countries that addresses cross-border water resources management issues through transboundary dialogue and cooperation. These projects are part of the Mekong Integrated Water Resources Management Project that promotes more coordinated planning and management of shared resources in the region within each territory, between the countries and across the Lower Mekong Basin.
