MRC Technical Reference Paper No.65
This technical reference paper presents the review by the MRC Secretariat on the design change made for the Xayaburi hydropower project. It analyses how the revised design of the project addresses the recommendations of the Xayaburi Technical Review Report and concerns raised during the prior consultation process.
MRC Technical Paper No.64
The SIMVA report is the largest socio-economic survey and study conducted along the Mekong mainstream and floodplain areas to understand the occurrence and impacts from floods, droughts and extreme weather, and identification of longer-term trends at community level.
The report provides the status of water quality in the Mekong River in 2016, assesses water quality monitoring data monitored by the Water Quality Monitoring Network laboratories, and provides recommendations for future monitoring.
JICA and MRC’s Study on Data Collection Survey on the Basin Management and Environmental Conservation in Mekong River Basin: Inception Report
The report aims to understand the existing condition of forest preservation, clarify the issues on forest management and preservation, and propose effective countermeasures and recommendations for basin management in the Mekong River Basin.
The report provides the status of water quality in the Mekong River in 2015, assesses water quality monitoring data monitored by the Water Quality Monitoring Network laboratories, and provides recommendations for future monitoring.
This technical note presents the results of modelling changes in sediment loads in the Mekong River Basin by employing water resource modelling to support assessment of proposed dams on sediment loads entering the Mekong delta.
This technical note describes the effect of reservoir development in the Lower Mekong River Basin on water loss derived from evaporation and seepage. It finds that the water loss in Cambodia and Lao PDR increases in proportion to the number of proposed reservoirs in 2020 and 2040.
Transboundary Water Resources Management Issues in the Sesan and Srepok River Basins of Cambodia and Viet Nam
The report describes priority issues for the management of water resources in the Sesan and Srepok River Basins along the borders of Cambodia and Viet Nam. Issues identified include insufficient monitoring and assessment of water flow, lack of flood forecasting and warning mechanisms, and limited mitigation measures to address the impacts of hydro-infrastructural development.
The report describes priority issues for fisheries management in the Mekong and Sekong Rivers along the borders of Cambodia and Lao PDR. This is a joint paper produced by the two countries under the Mekong Integrated Water Resources Management Project.
The report explains priority issues for the management of water resources in the Mekong Delta across Cambodia and Viet Nam. Key issues identified include lack of mechanisms for flood and drought control, and hydrological, meteorological and water quality data.
The article provides information and factual data on water quality of the Mekong River Basin, based on the study of the MRC’s 2014 Lower Mekong Regional Water Quality Monitoring Report.
This report discusses the 2014 flood situation, including rainfall climate, water flow in the Mekong mainstream, and water levels across the Cambodian floodplain and the Delta in Viet Nam.
