Preparation of the Upper Mekong Chapters for the MRC 2018 Mekong State of the Basin Report

The Mekong River Commission (MRC) has set aside funds in its budget toward the cost of the “Preparation of the Upper Mekong Chapters for the MRC 2018 Mekong State of the Basin Report” and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultancy services.

The services include the collection and use of publicly available data and information to describe and illustrate the environmental, social, economic, climate change and cooperation status and trends in the Myanmar and China portions of the Mekong Basin. The combined length of the chapters would be about 50 pages with many self-explanatory maps, figures, graphs and tables. The chapters would be prepared during the first quarter of 2018 in consultation with the MRC and stakeholders in the countries.

MRC now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (short description of similar assignments, list of relevant experience in the Mekong region, including specific experience in Myanmar and Yunnan Province of China, and availability of appropriate skills among staff, including GIS, mapping and graphic design capability). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

Consultants should meet following requirements:

    • Experience with economic, social, environmental and climate change assessments of river basins in Myanmar and Yunnan Province in China;
    • Knowledge, including relevant data and information, of the Mekong tributary basins in Myanmar and China;
    • Ability to prepare camera-ready chapters for the 2018 Mekong SOBR (in English), including high-quality GIS-based maps and graphs; and
    • Substantial experience in the Lower Mekong Basin and the wider region.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the MRC Procurement Manual.

Interested consultants may obtain further information upon request 7 days before the deadline.

Expressions of interest must be delivered in a written form to the address below (by mail or email) before 3PM, 19 November 2017.
