The assignment involves (1) reviewing of photo archives and project-related documents; (2) planning of photo stories, shooting locations and travel schedule; (3) shooting photos in the fields; and (4) post production of editing and filing of photos with text (captions and narratives).
A minimum of bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s, in photojournalism, photography, communications or related field;
At least 5 years of solid experience in the field of professional photojournalism with a good portfolio of photo products on the Mekong, development or environmental issues;
Ability to produce photo stories/essays with good narrative skills;
Experience with the use of a variety of digital cameras, and expertise in shooting in various lighting conditions;
Adequate equipment and facility, including HD cameras, an editing machine and applications, and other necessary photo production tools;
Ability to produce photo products as defined by the Communication Component;
Knowledge of natural resources management and environmental awareness is desirable;
Good understanding of the Mekong River basin’s socio-economic, environmental contexts;
Work experience with international, inter-governmental organisations preferred;
Willingness to work closely with the MRCS and transboundary project teams;
Good command of written and spoken English;
Working knowledge of riparian languages is an asset but not a requirement.
