Bilateral Water Cooperation Strengthened

At a joint workshop on 10-11 May 2018 in Phnom Penh, water experts from Cambodia and Viet Nam discussed ways to strengthen cross-border cooperation to address water issues in the Mekong Delta and the Sesan – Srepok river basins at the provincial level. They shared the results of national consultations with relevant provinces in the two project sites, the experts streamlined the design of three-layered transboundary cooperation mechanisms that support the sharing of critical data on water resources indicators, the negotiation of specific water issues along the borders, and the establishment of joint emergency response to disasters.
